Alissa Jung

WORDS ABOUT

Alissa Jung first sensed that imagination and her love of fiction could be a profession in 1991, when she saw a notice in her school: “Looking for children to participate in audio plays!” That’s how she started to take part in audio books, to dub, to write reportages for the radio herself and to act on stage. At 16, she was discovered for film during a theatre performance and has worked successfully as an actress ever since. In her mid-20s, she began directing her own short films, documentaries and youth theatre plays. In 2015, she took a break from the film world to finish her medical studies. Afterwards she worked as a pediatrician in a Berlin clinic for 3 years. In 2019, she returned to the film world with the movie “A matter of life” and was nominated for the Grimme Award as the leading actress. In 2021 she graduated from the “Drehbuchwerkstatt München” (HFF Munich) with her screenplay for the feature film “Paternal Leave”and was nominated for the “Tankred Dorst” award. In 2024, she realised her feature film debut Paternal Leave as a director.
Alissa Jung is also the head of Pen Paper Peace, a NGO she founded to promote education worldwide.

PEN PAPER PEACE

Since the beginning in 2011 Alissa is the chairwoman of Pen Paper Peace e.V. , an organization committed to education. We want to build worldwide bridges through educational projects. Because education creates perspectives, courage and is the prerequisite for independent action.

On the one hand, we are committed to political work with children and young people in Europe. We want to encourage independent thinking, clarify global relationships and their influences on people and point out options for action without paternalism. At the same time, we support projects in Haiti, Honduras and Namibia, which provide access to education and a safe learning environment for children.
